Kaleb, not all who join Akatsuki are evil. They also all have personal goals in their mind. You have no choice as to what side they fight for.

Itachi joined to protect his brother

Tobi joined to figure out who he was, then Madara took over as an evil being.

Zetsu joined to prove himself worthy and has no real loyalties

Etc. Etc. Just because they joined Akatsuki doesn't mean they are really evil, it just means that they joined the Akatsuki for their own personal reasons. Batsu joined because they made him feel accepted, he was truly good at heart.
